ASers Running Dubai Marathon for AS Awareness

“Nearly 19,000 people will run their hearts out in the shadow of the Burj Khalifa on Friday morning – many of them pounding the pavements for a cause.
One group who will be running the 10k is competing against all the odds – because they suffer from a potentially crippling spine disease which leaves them barely able to walk.
They all suffer from Ankylosing Spondylitis, an arthritic disease of the spine and are running to raise awareness of the disease which can be eased if detected early.
Their doctor, Humeira Badasha, who has a practice in Jumeirah Beach Road, told 7DAYS: “We have got them fit enough to run.”
