Wednesday Walker Spotlight – Gregg  by Chris Scott & Tracy Lemieux Hello Walkers!! We’ve had another great week of walking and are well on our way to reaching the Moon!! This week’s Spotlight is a little different. This is Gregg’s Story as told by his mom, Tracy Lemieux. Tracy shares the following with us. “My 31 yr old son Gregg was diagnosed about 3 yrs ago, actually quite by accident.… Read More »Wednesday Walker Spotlight – Gregg of Team Gregg's Legs

Tiara's Tuesday Talk – EVERY Step Matters

Tiara’s Tuesday Talk – by Sara Sheibley   Everyone compares. It’s the whole keeping up with the Joneses thing. “Hey look! The Joneses got a flower bed. I need a flower bed.” “The Joneses bought a new car. I need a new car.” Wow… Jenna (Yes I am picking this wonderful woman) had 16,521 steps yesterday. I only did 4587. I should do better. I’m letting everyone down. I… I… I… Notice what happens once the comparison materializes. We take something good about someone else and warp it into a downward spiral of self-deprecation, deeming ourselves unworthy or incapable, not good… Read More »Tiara's Tuesday Talk – EVERY Step Matters

Musical Motivation Monday – Week Four

Yeah! It’s Monday and time for some more meditations on motivation. Every day on our road there is a group of ladies that walk past our house to the corner and back, being a country road that is really a distance, but they do it. That got me thinking about our walk and how we stay focused on moving when we’re alone. We have our team mates but even then they may not be in the same area. The Rockin’ Weebles, we’re world –wide and not everyone has someone in the same town let alone the same country. Jenna, our… Read More »Musical Motivation Monday – Week Four

Tiara's Tuesday Talk – Stretching

Tiara’s Tuesday Talk – by Sara Sheibley So here we are at Tuesday again and time for my weekly talk. After much deliberation, and a helping brain from my daughter Ashleigh, we are going to discuss exercises you can do to help stretch out that back which may get achy from walking. For people with Ankylosing Spondylitis a back ache can occur at any time without any known reason. This is called a flare. Flares are the sudden and severe onset of symptoms and for us this usually means a severe back ache, muscle spasms and issues with our SI joints.… Read More »Tiara's Tuesday Talk – Stretching

Musical Motivation Monday – Week Three

Go to any sporting event and you’ll find them. They can be in a squad, dressed as a mascot, or even the fans organizing the wave – Cheerleaders! The eternal pep squad there to encourage the players to do their best and to get the fans engaged in the game, set, and/or match. They even have their own competitions and cheerleader fans. We on Team Rockin’ Weeble have our own fans and cheerleaders dedicated to pushing us to walk beyond what we believe we can do and reminding us why we are doing this. One in particular is Andrew “Tom”… Read More »Musical Motivation Monday – Week Three

Anything For A Good Cause – Well, Almost Anything!

Hi! I’m Abbe and I live in a VERY small town in Southeastern Iowa. I grew up here and I pretty much love it. It’s one of those nice little places where you find out from your neighbors and friends what you’ve been up to. 😉 Typically around here, and in my family, it’s “stay under the radar” and “don’t rock the boat” so I was raised to be quite reserved. If I didn’t know you, I didn’t talk to you unless I absolutely had to. You could say I was almost painfully shy. I also was not into sports… Read More »Anything For A Good Cause – Well, Almost Anything!

Step Report – First 10 Days!

We are off to an amazing start! I want to thank each and every one of you for your participation to date! We have many weeks ahead but I sure hope you can see it will be worth the effort and lots of fun along the way. We have many new things coming up to help us reach the moon! If we continue on this course we won’t quite make our goal. Let’s find ways together to get more people involved and share and educate people about spondylitis while we are at it. Last year we took a TOTAL of 63,978,087 steps!… Read More »Step Report – First 10 Days!

I Believe…

By believing passionately in something that still does not exist, we create it. The nonexistent is whatever we have not sufficiently desired. – Franz Kafka I’ve been thinking a lot about our walk & how we can share what we are doing with the world & in the process raise awareness of spondylitis. I need to share with you all what I believe so hopefully you can understand better why everyone participating is doing something really really important. AND by understanding a little bit more about why our walk was created, we can see we have these beliefs in common… Read More »I Believe…
