Team Spotlight 2016: Torus Ankylosaurus

Our team, Torus Ankylosaurus, celebrated crossing the finish line on May 31st, 2016! This is our second annual WYASO celebration and it won’t be our last. We stuck with a blue and orange theme again for our celebration. (It’s hard to change it up, lol!) We had blue cheese burgers and blue claw crab, candied carrots, orange mango salsa with blue chips and, of course, orange and blue mixed drinks! We had a great time playing board games and dancing! We ended the day with cake, a movie, and some gifts that I was not expecting! I have always been a science… Read More »Team Spotlight 2016: Torus Ankylosaurus

An Honest Appeal

Greetings My People, Take a breath, a moment and please read this. I know this time of year I’m a broken record. “Join Rockin’ Weebles: Weebles Kick A.S.!” All I am trying to do is shed some light on the disease that I and so many others have. It isn’t going away. It’s scary for us. It gets worse every day. Every day we learn of other diseases/complications we have to be aware of as our body attacks itself. Every now and then we go through the grieving process for aspects of our life that we once enjoyed vanishing beyond… Read More »An Honest Appeal

My Story – by Bret (part 2)

Thank you for coming back. Your emails have been very nice to read, and I truly feel your pain. The main objective of my story is to help others understand, and for you to hear from someone who has been very recently diagnosed with A.S. This article is aimed at the guys/girls who are brave enough to get online and check out some websites because they have A.S… This is for you. The article may seem like the worst case scenario, but it is, as I have a severe case of A.S. So let’s talk about A.S. and if you… Read More »My Story – by Bret (part 2)

Just Put One Foot In Front Of The Other

Karen Swank-Fitch, Team Captain Team Fitch Feet, has some very wise and inspirational words for all of us. The Walk Your AS Off countdown has begun. Get ready to walk on April 1st, and please stop by and leave Karen a comment.  There is this certain song that has stuck with me since I was, say 5 years old or so. I have used this song as one of my “Soundtrack for Life” tunes that I used as motivation for my entire existence…be it to actually get up and move or to motivate myself internally. The ditty is from a… Read More »Just Put One Foot In Front Of The Other

My Story – by Bret (Part 1)

HLA-B27 – These used to be just letters and numbers to me. But these numbers have changed my life in a blink of an eye, as they have yours, and YOU ARE NOT ALONE. And if this blood test is positive, we both have Ankylosing Spondylitis. It is a horrible autoimmune system disease that attacks our joints and tendons, and other areas of our bodies, including our organs. And to make it even more of a challenge, the story is different for all of us. Some have very few symptoms, and others like me are in constant pain 24/7, with… Read More »My Story – by Bret (Part 1)
