Walk Your AS Off World Arthritis Day 2016 – RECAP

The Walk AS One community stood tall this year to raise awareness for Ankylosing Spondylitis on World Arthritis Day 2016.

Our teams walked 1,287,797 steps in ONE DAY to raise awareness for Ankylosing Spondylitis on World Arthritis Day, which was on October 12, 2016.

Our Not-So-Silent auction raised the money we need to redo our Walk Your AS Off site with an integrated step count system with FitBit, so we’re going to be startinFitBit - Leisl Noreen g on that shortly.

Our site will be much easier to manage for Walk Your AS Off 2017, so get ready for our best year yet! It’s coming!

Amongst all the excitement of getting ready for World Arthritis Day, we also received word that Walk AS One has received its 501c3 non-profit status. We are over the moon about this. Here is a link to a video created by our founder, Jennifer Dye Visscher, about receiving Walk AS One’s non-profit status.

We’d like to mention the teams who went out and walked or did something to raise awareness for World Arthritis Day on October 12, 2016. These are the teams we’ve heard from, and we’ve added their team step count totals to their team pages as promised.ASsie Walkers Australia

Team Captains, Carrie Kellenberger and David Mitchell, would like to offer a special shout-out to Gina Catalano Holbrook and her team at Evening Street Elementary School in Worthington, Ohio.

They formed their own mini team for The Walking Spondies and racked up a whopping 259,465 just on their own in one day.ellen-wearing-blue-for-as

The Walking Spondies also requested to add a photo of one of their team members in Taiwan who went out and walked for us on World Arthritis Day. Ellen wore a blue scarf, our awareness color for Ankylosing Spondylitis. Thank you so much, Ellen!

Way to go, everyone. We should all be proud of what our community has accomplished.
