Tiara's Tuesday Talk – We're Walkers!

Tiara’s Tuesday Talk – by Sara Sheibley     Lots of things are great as a half… That half a sandwich and a cup of soup deal, half of an oreo cookie, a half dollar… Now here we are at the half way point. Since we have a ten(ish) year goal we can’t completely say we are halfway there but we can say that we are halfway gone. 5 weeks under our belt and lots and lots of steps to show for it. LOTS! No no no… Not these steps, or even these, . I’m talking about the kind we… Read More »Tiara's Tuesday Talk – We're Walkers!

Tiara's Tuesday Talk – We Live, We Learn, We Go On…

Tiara’s Tuesday Talk – by Sara Sheibley Sometimes I should really pay attention to my own words. I type them, I read them yet I don’t heed them. This is how the story often goes, but this time I did myself in. For some reason even though I knew I was going to be busy, I knew it was a full day, I knew, I knew, I knew… And now… I wish but any way, I didn’t take my own advice. I was trying to do too much! Am I glad I cracked a new high for steps? Yep… 23,301 steps… Read More »Tiara's Tuesday Talk – We Live, We Learn, We Go On…

I Believe…

By believing passionately in something that still does not exist, we create it. The nonexistent is whatever we have not sufficiently desired. – Franz Kafka I’ve been thinking a lot about our walk & how we can share what we are doing with the world & in the process raise awareness of spondylitis. I need to share with you all what I believe so hopefully you can understand better why everyone participating is doing something really really important. AND by understanding a little bit more about why our walk was created, we can see we have these beliefs in common… Read More »I Believe…

Huw Irranca-Davies MP Participates In Walk Your A.S. Off

Yesterday was a big day for Ankylosing Spondylitis Awareness.  Huw Irranca-Davies, a member of the British Parliament spoke about A.S.! Please take a moment to listen to his eloquent description of his own story and the need for more research, better access to care, and the imperative to reduce the number of years it takes so many to receive a diagnosis. Mr. Irranca-Davies also mentions our walk and asks others to participate! He will be joining us and walking to raise awareness. I’d say he’s done a great job of that before taking his first officially recorded step. Link… Read More »Huw Irranca-Davies MP Participates In Walk Your A.S. Off

Chris Scott's Walk Your A.S. Off Wednesday Walker Spotlight

Wednesday Walker Spotlight: Chris Scott by Chris Scott   Hi, I’m Chris Scott. I am from McConnelsville, Ohio, where I live with my wife Carol and our Miniature Schnauzer, Kadie. I was diagnosed with Psoriatic Spondylitis in 1999 and we’ve been waging a war on AS since. Like most of us, when I heard the words along with “No Cure” I thought, “well this is it”. But never being a person to take anything at face value, I went to work to find out everything that I could about this stuff and I brought my Rheumy along for the ride. I am… Read More »Chris Scott's Walk Your A.S. Off Wednesday Walker Spotlight

Tony Southcotte Reviews Fitbit & Announces Crossover Team Fitbit

Fitbit Gear Review by Tony Southcotte I’m a very lazy man, especially when I can get technology to do the work for me. This is where the Fitbit comes in. A Fitbit is a small device that connects to your belt, bra strap or really anything it can clip too. The device itself is a pedometer, but it has many more features than that. On the Fitbit itself, you get an easy to read display and a button. The first screen is your  steps, then other statistics, such as stairs climbed or overall activity level. The Fitbit has an… Read More »Tony Southcotte Reviews Fitbit & Announces Crossover Team Fitbit

Overcoming Fears & Finding Inspiration

You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do. ˜ Eleanor Roosevelt   I have been afraid. Afraid of what you are wondering, especially if you are here reading this blog post on our Walk Your A.S. Off website and you don’t have a form of spondylitis. So let me try to explain. I used to love to push myself physically, in fact, I did some crazy things trying to prove to myself that I could physically do the… Read More »Overcoming Fears & Finding Inspiration
